What to compare in an electricity or gas plan
Look beyond the headline discount. The right plan depends on your address, energy use and tariff, so compare the full estimated cost and the conditions attached to each offer.
- Usage charges: the price paid for each unit of electricity or gas used.
- Daily supply charge: the fixed daily cost of keeping the property connected.
- Tariff type: flat, time-of-use, controlled load or demand tariffs may affect the result.
- Discounts and fees: check benefit periods, payment conditions, sign-up credits and exit fees.
- Estimated annual cost: use your bill or usage history where possible instead of comparing one rate in isolation.
Important comparison information: Utility Hub compares options from its provider panel. We do not compare every provider or plan in the market. Availability and eligibility depend on your address and circumstances.
Utility Hub does not charge customers for its comparison support. Utility Hub may receive a commission from a provider when an eligible customer connects through us.
Victorian households and small businesses can also use Victorian Energy Compare, the Victorian Government's independent energy comparison service. Utility Hub offers a separate assisted comparison service using our provider panel.
